Your Best work needed

May 25th, 2009 by

In Australia they celebrate a holiday called in international day of families. Although i do not celebrate this holiday and have no intention of doing so I am somewhat elated by knowing that i have a loving family that i can go to every day to see. I do not think it is anyones buisness how my family works and I do not like being required to write about it. I suppose that an ideal family is any family that loves each other. I really think that there are only ideal families. If you do not love each other than you are not an ideal family, you are just a group of people.

Volunteering is a nice way to help out the community you live in. If people did not volunteer many things just would not get done. I volunteer sometimes.

True Heroes

May 25th, 2009 by

In the Fall of 2001 the greatest attack on American soil since pearl harbor was dealt to the United states of America by a mysterious organization know as Al-Queda. Multiple Gargantuan airplanes with hundreds of passengers crashed into strategic positions on the east coast. Thousands died.  I still remember what i did that day, I went to school had a blast like every other day and loved it and came home to tell my mom. I was in the third grade, and what did a third grader care about a concepts he did not even understand; death, attack, axis of evil. My teacher said that that would be the day that my grandchildren would as me about, but I could tell them more about a boy that became a hero in that fall of 2001.

When I was in the third grade I loved going to school, loved seeing my gang, loved seeing my teacher. I did not love the school bully. My school had that typical bully, the bully that had it ruff, whose parents were not as well of as the rest of us. I do not remember the name of that bully. It’s funny how the people you thought were important then are not even important enough to remember know. I do remeber one boy named Tyler.

Tyler was a fifth grader, which was eons older thn me in grade school years. Tyler was my hero and also my reading buddy, a school program that paired up older and younger kids to help them learn to read more fluently. Tyler was a good all American kid, and the day i got bullied he showed it.

This is the day I remember better than most. I was the end of summer and the few deciduous trees were making there annual change. The playground black top was still had it’s sweltering heat. The bully, a boy slightly larger than the rest of the kid in his grade accosted me on the black top with his usual cocky strut. I saw his worn jeans and faded shirt and looked away hoping he would not pick me as his target today. fwap. ring. muffled voices. He had just thrown a red rubber ball at the side of my head. I put my hand on the pavement, my eyes watered and i had a ringing in my eye, the type of ringing you get when you mess with a loud firework and get burned. Over the ringing i could still hear his lone laughter and the silence of everyone else. He made some snide remarks and the Tyler showed up. He came over from the circle of fifth grade boys playing games. Tyler and the bully were both fifth grades and almost he same size. At this point everyone the saw what happened to me was now watching.

Tyler puffed up with every step as if pumps in his shoes were making him taller and tougher the closer he got to Him. By the time the were next to each other Tyler was a train  his fists like wrecking balls. Tyler never fought Him but he got the job done.

That summer Tyler died while riding his scooter done hill. A truck t-bones him and his head was smashed against the curb. He was put on life support but he was brain dead and had no chance of recovery; his parents pulled the plug. Today only a bench stands in the memory of Tyler at the corner he was hit, but for me I do not need the bench to remeber Tyler, although I still go sit on it from time to time.

Challenge 7- Shades of… green

May 4th, 2009 by

Green, the color of life, the color of the wild. The deep forest green of the earth or the vivid lush green of a garden vegtable plant, green is a color that God must have loved enough to paint the landscape with. The greatest green can only be found in the leafs of my blueberry plant. This green is so rich it could be bottled and sold to the masses.

Student Blogging Challenge #7 – Using Links

The blue whale would be a fantastic animal to see in the wild. Blue whales are the largest animals in the world. They put on fantastic displays in the ocean fo spectators on boat. If there was ever a aquirium that would be able to accommidate these magnificent creatures it would be a sad sight to see. The whale would no longer be able to roam the thousands of miles of ocean that it once could. For more information on the Blue Whale checkout these links.

earth day(not capitalized)

April 24th, 2009 by

The Earth is where everyone lives and until we develop star ships like in Star Trek we have to deal with it. I thing that conserving the Earth is a important issue in this era. I am one who enjoys the outdoors and camping and would suffer a mood of melancholy if i were ever to be ruined(not that it already has not been).Teddy Roosevelts administration started the wave of conservation with the creation of the national park system and yellow stone. Even though I think that saving the earth is important, and try to do so myself, I do not care for the whole earth day thing, I think so lowly of it that i am not even capitalizing the name. In nineteen seventy the Nixon administration created earth day to shut up the hippies. I will rejoice on the day that they create star ships and when I no longer have to write these.

#7- Slice of Life Writing

October 31st, 2008 by

Midnight’s oily, black skin reflected the glow of the cherry hot knife he brandished underneath my chin. In the dim cave he loomed over me saying in his low raspy voice, “Do you know what they call me? They call me the great lord of wars.”

“I thing you mean warlord,” I rebuked in a attempt of sass and impudence.

In his same standoffish expression he breathed, “I prefer my way. Now…lets not partake in the bath of blood all the other savages in my army cherish.”

“I thing you mean bloodbath.”

Midnight hesitated, then finally smirked saying, ” I prefer my way.” He withdrew the blade from my now glistening neck tossing it back into the forge, turning his back, and storming out of the dim cave with his men in a militant fashion, leaving only  me in the dirt half clothed and my best friend…the guard.

#6 – Podcasting: A Literary Connection

October 17th, 2008 by

I listened to a podcast about The Hatchet. Some of the things that went well in this podcast was  that there were multiple voices in the podcast, which makes changes that cause the listener to be more attentive. They switched from excerpts of The Hatchet to a summary of the book which gave different perspectives and gave an opinion. They used sounds to explain words, such as the instant when the made a vomiting sound to implied brain threw up. The background music reflected the moments in the narration which emphasize what was said. The background music was not detracting from the narration. The narrators voices are clear and they pronounced word well. What made this podcast make me want to read the book was that it clearly stated the direction of the novel while making it exciting. From reading the book myself I can tell that they picked out the excerpts that were most exciting and most closely explained the novel.
